How often do you release new music?
Multiple times a year

Describe the overall feel of your brand and how you want incoming fans to perceive you and your music:
I describe my music as "blending heartfelt, introspective songwriting with folk, pop, and rock styles". I want fans to feel my songs are relatable and touch on all the little thoughts, feelings, and moments we experience we all experience as human beings. I want my music to appeal to people who are deep thinkers like myself and who appreciate thoughtful, narrative lyricism like I do.

Please briefly describe your organic content strategy and provide links where we can see your top of funnel content:
I try to focus on making social media posts that feel like a window into what I'm currently working on in the moment, rather than feeling calculated and highly curated. For example, a clip from tracking a new song, a snippet of a live performance or band rehearsal, or just vid of me practicing guitar solos. I have a pretty strong aversion to the phoniness that pervades social media, so it's important to me that my posts feel authentic and true to me.

Tell us about your most successful top of funnel ads:
To date, my best campaign has still been my Spotify ads for my song "Something That I Need to Know". At best I had a .15 cost per conversion and triggered Discover Weekly on an ongoing basis, leading to over 200k streams for the song. I ran this for much of 2023 but turned it off to save up money for FSH attempts. I have had some success, but haven't yet been able to reach a point where I can run it sustainably at breakeven. However, I was able to add over 100 new customers and fans to my email list.

Describe your growth on social media in the last 12 months:
Eh, honestly not a ton. I've been spending less time on social media recently for my own sanity and also because I've been focusing on other things at the moment like starting a trio and booking us for live shows. But I did run a Spotify campaign around the first single from my album "Great Expectations" which did fairly well and became one of my most popular songs. Some of the videos I filmed for this song also became my best performing videos in my FSH.

Lastly, please tell us why you think you should be a finalist for the Foundations Award:
Honestly, most of my advertising efforts this year were spent trying to get a successful FSH, rather than on building via Spotify or social media. As the year has gone on, I've pivoted a bit more towards introducing new audiences to my music in person via live shows with the intention of then leveraging my digital marketing efforts (emailing them, making offers, etc.). The Foundation Award is about finding ways to reach new people with your music and lay a strong foundation for your music career. I feel I'm doing that with both digital marketing efforts (Spotify ads, FSH ads) and tried and true in-person efforts like live shows, supplemented with digital marketing such as emailing my fans, making offers, etc. Appreciate the nomination and consideration!
