Shopify Order Workflow Trigger

Introduction

This walkthrough will guide you through using the New Shopify Order workflow trigger provided by Indie Tools inside of the IndieCRM. Using this trigger, you will be able to trigger an automation workflow whenever a New Shopify Order is received.

Additionally, you can set product and variant filters to only trigger the workflow when the order includes (or does not include) a certain product or product variant.

Setup Process

Setting Up a New Trigger

  1. In the left-hand menu, click “Automations”
  2. To add the trigger to an existing workflow, click on the workflow you would like to modify. Otherwise, click “Create Workflow” in the top right.
  3. Click on “Add New Trigger”, then select “New Shopify Order” under “Indie Tools”

Customizing Your Trigger

If you would like to only trigger the workflow for certain products or product variants in your Shopify store:

  1. In the trigger settings window, click “Add filters”
  2. In the dropdown menu, select “Products”
  3. In the next dropdown menu:
    • select “Includes” to only trigger the workflow when certain products are in the order
    • select “Does not include” to only trigger the workflow if the order does not contain certain products
  4. In the third dropdown menu, select any products you would like to filter your orders by
  5. If you have only selected one product, you may also add another filter and include/exclude certain variants of that product.
  6. Click “Save Trigger” and return to the workflow

Binding A Contact

By default, we cannot trigger your workflow with a certain contact. However, based on the way we’ve set up this integration, there will always be a contact in your account corresponding to the order that we send in the trigger.

So, if you would like to add contact-dependent actions to your workflow (such as “Send Email”, “Add Tag”, “Add To Workflow”, etc.), follow these steps:

  1. Underneath your trigger, click the first “+” icon to add a new first action to the workflow.
  2. In the Actions menu, select “Find Contact”.
  3. Click “Add Field”.
  4. In the first dropdown menu, select “Email”.
  5. In the second field, click the tag icon on the right side of the field.
  6. Scroll down and click on “Indie Tools”, then click “New Shopify Order” and select “Email”
  7. Save the action.

Finishing The Workflow

With these steps taken care of, you may now add as many actions to the rest of your workflow as you like! Make sure that, once you are done, you save the workflow and switch it from “Draft” to “Published”.

Additionally, you may want to test your workflow with a test Shopify order to ensure it behaves as you expected.
